With sleek, modern, and classic designs for both home and office, Vitra, a Swiss design house leverages the talent of artists and architects worldwide to create both innovative and timeless pieces. Fuigo made a recent visit to Vitra’s New York showroom to explore the contemporary space and the brand’s inspirational, functional pieces. We asked a few Fuigo Studio members to share their thoughts on the space and the collection. Watch the video of the Vitra space and read the interviews below to learn more.

WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE ITEM IN THE VITRA SHOWROOM?
KARINA PLOTKO: I really love the Cyl Sofa Highback, actually the whole collection, it works great because it combines wood and fabric. It also allows for a lot of seating, which is great for so many of the projects that I am working on.
JOSH WESTERMAN: I think walking around the showroom, I am still in love with Eames Elephant. It’s just a timeless piece of theirs and it’s beautiful.
DOES THE VITRA AESTHETIC ALIGN WITH ANY OF YOUR RECENT PROJECTS?
COURTNEY MCLEOD: I am working on a beautiful loft project in Chelsea, which is the perfect envelope for the really sleek, modern, but also contemporary classic pieces that you’ll find at Vitra. Absolutely, the pieces align really well with that project. I am excited to be here.
KARINA PLOTKO: I am working on several, different types of offices, some that are technology driven, some are oil and gas companies… All different kinds of companies that actually don’t want to look like typical corporate offices. The furniture here really suits those kinds of projects because the Vitra pieces are comfortable, modern, sleek, appealing, can handle wear and tear, and are formal enough for an office environment. The pieces here are also built to function - from the desks that go up and down to the chairs that can be combined together for conference rooms - there are quite a lot of things in the showroom that work perfectly for my projects.
What DO YOU THINK OF THE VITRA SHOWROOM SPACE IN THE MEATPACKING?
COURTNEY MCLEOD: The showroom is right on the water, right across from the Whitney… I mean does it get any better than that. I really love coming down here.
JOSH WESTERMAN: I think it’s gorgeous, they’ve done a really nice job with it. I just found out that it is a temporary studio, which is really surprising because they’ve done such a nice job with this space.
